Section Announces Call for Nominations for the 2008 Awards Program

We are pleased to announce the 2008 Call for Nominations for the Private Practice Section’s Awards Program. The PPS Awards Committee encourages members to identify individuals who have made significant contributions to the profession and to recognize their efforts by nominating them for the Section’s various awards.

This year the Section will sponsor three awards:

Robert G. Dicus Award

This is the most prestigious award presented by the Private Practice Section.  It is named in honor of Robert G. Dicus.  As the first President of the Section from 1957 – 1959, Robert Dicus’s achievements set the standard of volunteer leadership for the Section.  The purpose of this award is to recognize a single member of the Private Practice Section whose contributions to the Section as a whole, and the Section as an APTA component, have been of exceptional value.

Practice Award

This award is presented to a practice for innovative operation or a specific project, which promotes a positive image of private practice physical therapy in the community.  The award also acknowledges an individual member who has made outstanding and enduring contributions to the practice of physical therapy.

Friend(s) of Private Practice Award

This award is bestowed on a non-member whose distinguished contributions of time, energy or expertise have promoted the goals of the Section, and enhanced benefits to Section members.

The deadline for all awards is June 6, 2008.  Download nomination forms here.

Nominators will be notified by PPS verifying receipt of nomination packages.  Nomination packages will be reviewed and recipients selected by the Awards Committee in June.  Recipients will be notified shortly thereafter and all recipients will be announced in the September 2008 issue of IMPACT.  The awards will be presented during the Opening General Session of the PPS Annual Conference and Exposition, November 5–8, 2008, at the Loews Royal Pacific Resort in Orlando, Florida.
